If that machine already has a network connection to any folders on that server then what you want to do is not possible. If they have no connections to that server from that machine then when you attempt to connect the popup should come up if they have no permissions to the share.
It revolves around the fact that if a machine already has a connection to a windows share using a certain set of creds, you can not use a different set of creds to access shares on that same machine.
Sucks, but that is how billy boy wanted it.
I will see if i can find a link to explain it a little better.

Hi John, Yes those machines also acces some other shared folder on the same server.
I am glad that you understand the issue. I need a remedy that if they try to click a folder on which hey dont have permission , a pop should appear. Is this possible ? Third party software ?

See above link to explain it.
There may be a solution but it is somewhat tedious.

This may work, look at the third posting.

He is basically using a host file to give another alias to the remote server. Then connecting to one share with the normal server name and to another with the second alias.
So, you may be able to type in the run box something like \\myserver2\restricted share and have the popup happen. Assuming the host file has myserver2 set up with the same ip address as the actual server name. I have not tried this but it may work. It might be worth experimenting with if this is something you would use often.
I might play with this later myself.

OK. Found another way. Go to map network drive, use the path \\IPaddress\share and chose the use different creds option, put in your creds and poof, it works. Just remember to not choose reconnect and also remember to disconnect the drive when you are done.
