We have taken a backup from a windows 2005 database and are trying to restore
The problem is when restoring a SQL 2005 database to SQL 2008 using the restore /no recovery state option, SQL management Studio says it was successful although under the databases list the database remains in a rebuilding state.
I am able to restore the database in a restore /recovery state with no problems.

If you Restore 2005 database using No Recovery state then it would be in Rebuilding State. ( non operational)
You have to Restore with Recovery Option to leave Database in Operational state.
Kindly clarify on what's the issue is..
