We have an IBM Xseries 3500 with a scsi raid in place. We keep seeing corruption of data and have tracked it down to write cache being enabled on the disks. I've researched this a bit, and windows offered a fix in sp 3, but we're patched to sp4, and still having issues with corruption. We want to disable write cache, but every time I go to device manager, click on the disk, go to properties, and then disk properties, untick the box, and then hit ok. It re-enables itself. Is there any group policy I can configure to permanently disable this feature?

U can try to use regedit change the value to disable write cache in Windows 2000 and make that key as read only so that the os don't revert it back after the restart

Enabling or Disabling the Disk Write Caching
1. Right-click My Computer, and then click Properties.
2. Click the Hardware tab.
3. Click Device Manager.
4. Click the plus sign (+) next to the Disk Drives branch to expand it.
5. Right-click the drive on which you want to enable or disable disk write caching, and then click Properties.
6. Click the Disk Properties tab.
7. Click to select or clear the Write Cache Enabled check box as appropriate.
8. Click OK.
