Sony VAIO external monitor issue.

Ok, here's the issue, when docking a Sony VAIO VGN-Z720D, the external display will not come on automatically....now....god forbid the users complaining hit the FN+F7 key to switch it on...it does take half a second, but they want the external display to come on automatically...as soon as it is docked. They insist it worked with their previous Vaio...any help would be appreciated.
