Printer connection to USB2

I have a Dell XPST PIII550 running Win98 SE. I have had an Epson 900 printer connected to USB1 for some time, it works perfectly. I recently bought an Epson 1160 printer and connected it to USB2, it doesn't work. For some reason it thinks it is connected to LPT1.
When I first got the 1160 I didn't have a usb cable for it. I removed the cable from the 900 and connected it to the 1160 and USB2 port. Loaded the software and drivers successfully. But it came up connected to LPT1 and thus would not work. Since then I have connected both cables and reinstalled drivers for 1160. The 900 (default printer) still works fine, but I cannot get USB2 to work at all.
I have e-mailed Epson and Dell with no response of any sort.
I don't know if this question is hard or moderate, but it is worth 250 points to me. I need this printer working, I have stuff to print.
The reason I want them on separate ports is so I can print two jobs simultaneously.
