At first it was because of a /noems line in the config.sys, but I took that out and now I get a message saying "Emm386 is not loaded, unable to set page frame address, expanded memory is unavailable" then it'll say "EMM386 is loaded" after the error message when I load windows98. I checked in the windows directory and Himem.sys and EMM386.exe are there. My config.sys (and config.dos) are as follows:
DEVICE=C:\WINDOWS\HIMEM.SY
DEVICE=C:\WINDOWS\EMM386.E
My Autoexec.bat is as follows:
SET BLASTER=A220 I7 D1 H5 P330 T6
SET CTSYN=C:\WINDOWS
C:\PROGRA~1\CREATIVE\SBLIV
REM [Header]
@ECHO OFF
No matter what I do (I even reinstalled windows to no avail) I cannot get expanded memory. Windows alway reports expanded memory is unavailable in MS-DOS mode. This bites in that I can't play any old games that need expanded memory (I am somewhat a hard core gamer). I have tried the shortcuts in windows..the one called shortcut to MS-DOS with extended and Expanded memory support, it reboots the computer but then when it starts to load up in DOS mode I get the same EMM386 is not loaded, cannot setup page adress message ect. Restarting in MS-DOS mode does not help either. I am using a P3 500 with a 32 meg TNT2 M64 video card and a Sound Blaster live value sound card with 128 megs RAM. Thanks for any help.
