Sorry for the pts. I keep spending them on the search feature and questions. I'll try to get back with more points. I have a new pc. It's a PenIII 20 GB's 128 RAM. My old one was a Pen 133...32 RAM 1.2GB's running Win95. In the old one, when I was feebly writing a web page I had both NS and IE on it and alternated between the two to check it out. I was surfing as well looking for help in code...and periodically downloading clipart. I was operating with between 200 and 400 MBS. I don't recall but once that I got bsod. On this new machine I'm getting it regularly..just surfing looking for information. I have less loading up on the machine than I did on the old one. I know a little more now. I scan and defrag regularly. I'm trying to learn. I did one really dumb thing (well...some things considered) and that was to download 2 virus scanners when I didn't have the first completely uninstalled. I corrupted my isp among other things. I think the problem is solved. Both, I think, are gone after lots of questions and cleaning up.
I'm a real beginner...EE doesn't have a category for that. I probably don't belong here asking this question. Anyway, is there a book, or insight to the problem? I usually do 2 things: surf for information related to my job and use Word Perfect. I have 100's of files on WP. I have a few other programs that are innocuous....had them before.
I don't have an antivirus program or firewall. I'm a pretty conservative surfer. I don't use email a lot. I can't afford to corrupt or lose any WP files. I just don't know why I'd be getting this blue screen so regularly.
