I have a network where we are using profiles, with all user settings stored on a server. The server is running samba, and the workstations are all Win98 SE.
The problem is this:
Workstation A has a 19" monitor running at 1280x1024x32bpp at 75hz refresh.
Workstation B has a 14" monitor that only supports 800x600x16bpp at 60hz.
When user (joe) logs on to workstation B, the monitor is set to 1280x1024x32@75 (which obviously doesn't work).
I have looked at a number of registry settings, and played with this for some time now, and cannot get Workstation B to no apply the monitor settings Joe has in his profile.
The files and profiles must be shared between various workstations, so localizing profiles (i.e. not storing them on the server) isn't an option.
I'm willing to even reconfigure the netlogon and home directory settings if necessary to make this work, as long as the documents, preferences, mail, explorer, and desktop settings can be carried across the network from workstation to workstation.
I have looked at the policy editor, and it doesn't contain anything that applies specifically to this issue.
