explorer caused invalid page fault

Hi experts,
       I am running window98.After I installed linux    
 to make my box go with dual boot,I get a error as mentioned below.I cant Open My Desktop , IE 6 ,Network neighbourhood.But I can right click START and choose explore,I am able to browse.But when I click the above icons i get this error,here it is,

   EXPLORER caused an invalid page fault in module KERNEL32.DLL at 17f:bff7b9f6
   Registers:
   <I dont know what they are>
   Bytes at CS:EIP
   <all numbers>
   Stack dump:
   <all numbers>

i went to microsoft site for rectification.I did few things,
(1)I deleted my linux to make only window98 in hard disk to boot.no use.
(2)I deleted all the *.pwl files,rebooted and did mspwludp.exe patch to rebuild password file.no use.
(3)I deleted the win386.swp,made win98 to regenerate it one more time.no use.
(4)I configured config.sys buffer=***,stacks=64,512,something else.no use.
(5)I decreased the ControlPanel->Display->settingtab->advanced->performance
->clicked the slider bar to lower hardware acceleration.
(6)Deleted unwanted folder and file in desktop.no use.
(7)deleted all the *.tmp and *.chk.no use.
(8)renamed the config.sys to config.dos and autoexec.bat to autoexec.dos,rebooted.no use.
(9)did scanreg /fix and scanreg /restore.no use.
(10)Uninstalled and reinstalled IExplorer 6.no use.
         Still the problem persist.Please give me good solution for this problem.Reinstalling win98 is easy,but I want to solve this problem with out reinstalling.
