The Solution Rating System

With so many solutions, how can you tell which solutions are most likely to help you and which ones are not? To provide you with a tool to use, we rate our solutions based on various elements that most accurately determine if a solution is a quality solution. To explain what factors affect the solution rating, here are the elements we take into consideration when formulating our solution rating.

  • The Grade of the Solution
  • The Zone Rank of the Expert Providing the Solution
  • The Number of Author and Expert Comments
  • The Number of Experts Contributing
  • The Feedback of the Community

Your Input Matters
Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. As a member of Experts Exchange, you are able to cast your vote on the quality of the solutions in regard to how complete, accurate, helpful and easy to understand each solution is. Can't Download

I am running Win98. Have a Dell Dimesnion xps 450 (PII-450) 256MB ram. I am using IE 6.X.
A week ago I began receiving the error message "enable activeX" from the McAfee site when attempting to retrieve signature file downloads. After a debachle with their tech support I have remove all McAfee files. But now I am unable to download other files from other sites but I get a different error message which is as follows:
"Internet Explorer cannot download (my selected file) from (the selected site).  Internent Explorer was not able to open this site. The requested site is either unavailable or cannot be found. Please try again."
I have attempted to "repair" Explorere and it made no difference.
I'm I looking at F-Disk here?
One site I have attempted downloads from is Microsoft, Downloads, I have tried to download both the new DirectX file and IE 6. I have tried several times a day over several days. The same is true of other sites I visit that have never given me this trouble before.
I am a computer layman - please respond accordingly! Thanks!
