Put in your Quick Restore CD and check the menu for the option to reinstall drivers. Basically you need to reinstall your mainboard drivers.

OS: Windows 98 ver 4.10.1998
In the device manager under "other devices" there is on device, "PCI Bridge." The device status is as follows:
"The drivers for this device are not installed (code 28).."
My attempts to reinstall this driver or locate an appropriate driver on the compaq (HP) website for the 7922 have been unsucessful.
Where can I get this driver?

You'll have to look at your chipset manufacturer to get its driver.
Although Monspot did not recommend the correct driver(s), I did use the same site after reviewing the comments that broni123 pointed me to, to find the correct drivers.
The quick restore cd's crash my computer when I put them in the drive and reboot the computer. They used to work a couple of years ago though.
"Chipset", is that something other than the motherboard? Basically I saw the device "VIA Tech Standard PCI to ISA Bridge" , in the device manager under system devices. I used the VIA driver labeled as this from Monspot's website and it appears to have worked. But I basically bumbled my way to the solution.

Please download the file and extract into a folder. In device driver, go into properties of the device, click "update driver" under driver tab, browse to the folder you have created. If it finds an appropriate driver, it will install.
