The Solution Rating System

With so many solutions, how can you tell which solutions are most likely to help you and which ones are not? To provide you with a tool to use, we rate our solutions based on various elements that most accurately determine if a solution is a quality solution. To explain what factors affect the solution rating, here are the elements we take into consideration when formulating our solution rating.

  • The Grade of the Solution
  • The Zone Rank of the Expert Providing the Solution
  • The Number of Author and Expert Comments
  • The Number of Experts Contributing
  • The Feedback of the Community

Your Input Matters
Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. As a member of Experts Exchange, you are able to cast your vote on the quality of the solutions in regard to how complete, accurate, helpful and easy to understand each solution is. Backup Media and Software

I have 3 Computers. Two desktop computers and a laptop. I primarily use the 2 desktop computers. All have Windows 98. One desktop has a 3GB hard drive and 128MB RAM. The other desktop has a 6GB hard drive and 96MB RAM. The 2 desktops are usually networked, but I had a bad virus, so they are independent right now. I would like to be able to accomplish the following:

1. Full Backup and restore to another computer. I want to have one computer always backed up and ready to go (turnkey) in case of a disaster.
2. I want to be able to take the disk (from 1. above) or other storage medium, and be able to keep it in the safe deposit box.
3. Partial backup. For example, I would like to move Quicken data between computers. I use many floppy disks to move data -- I'm way behind the times.

I would like information on various backup hardware devices (IOMEGA ZIP or Peerless, CD, etc.) I want an easy system and don't mind paying extra for simplicity. I prefer an external backup system, so I can just move and plug into another computer. I would like to use less disks (or just one disk) and have quicker backup time. I don't know what requirements are needed with regard to USB ports, etc.

Currently I have a internal Colorado tape backup, but I can only use on one computer. I don't like it. It takes too long to backup, and I don't know if the information is good, since I have not tested it.

I understand Norton Ghost may be part of my answer for a full backup software.
