no drivers for windows cd player or media player

a friend gave me a pent166 machine running win98se no CD or back up. Had to do some work on it all is ok exept have no drivers for win CD player and media player also no product number I don`t know wear the operating sys came from. Microsoft data base said use CD? have no CD. any other way to get drivers or will any win 98 se CD do?

  You may be able to find the files from C:\Windows\Options\Cabs or C:\Windows\Options\Install

I recently had this problem when I had a registry problem. When I tried to play an mp3 with Media Player, it said it cannot play the file because a driver was not found.

I simply redownloaded/reinstalled Windows Media Player.  After this, everything worked again! :D

This will also be useful to play CDs.  You can associate Windows Media Player with CD music files, so that it runs Windows Media Player automatically when a CD is inserted.
