The Solution Rating System

With so many solutions, how can you tell which solutions are most likely to help you and which ones are not? To provide you with a tool to use, we rate our solutions based on various elements that most accurately determine if a solution is a quality solution. To explain what factors affect the solution rating, here are the elements we take into consideration when formulating our solution rating.

  • The Grade of the Solution
  • The Zone Rank of the Expert Providing the Solution
  • The Number of Author and Expert Comments
  • The Number of Experts Contributing
  • The Feedback of the Community

Your Input Matters
Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. As a member of Experts Exchange, you are able to cast your vote on the quality of the solutions in regard to how complete, accurate, helpful and easy to understand each solution is. When you provide your feedback, each rating is adjusted accordingly. So, if you see a solution that has a poor rating that you think is a good solution, let us know by rating it. XP, hidden files and .mps files

When I download maps for use on a handheld PC, during the download it says it's going to 'Temporary folder', after the download is complete - I can't find the folder or the files, even doing a search using the name produces nothing.  The system is XP.  After the download finishes, a window pops up saying that 'Real Player needs to download updates to play the file', along with an OK button.  At first I wondered what Real Player had to do with maps, but apparently it has something to do with .mps files.  In any event, pressing the OK button results in it saying no information is available to update or play the file.  I can't get anywhere - I can't find the recently downloaded files or 'open' them.

On another, perhaps related note, I've noticed that XP will from time to time 'lose' or 'hide' files from me that I know are there, and yet a search will produce nothing, even when I can tell it the exact name of the file and folders.  Is there some way XP can hide files automatically without me knowing about it ?  And why would you want 'hidden files' if you are the only one using the computer ?   Sometimes I've been able to find 'lost' files in 'My Recent Documents' in 'Documents & Settings", which apparently makes a copy of everything you ever do !
