Browse All TopicsMy father-in-law has Windows 98 and is having low-resources issues. He as 512M memory on a 1GHz machine, runs Norton Anti-Virus and ZoneAlarm with a cablemodem. He swears there are no viruses, but it sounds to me like he might have a trojan, if it is not simply that he has too much crap running. I have tried to get him to upgrade to XP Professional, which I use. His resources get low and he cannot run some programs, like Quicken. His available memory is still good (100M+), but system resources are like 5% or less. I looked and his kernel32 was using 100M+, which seemed pretty high. Any suggestions?
