Creative SoundBlaster Live! Digital 5.1
Model Number SB0220
I installed the driver which was on the CD. It works fine except that I get no sound if an application requires Wave, DirectSound, DirectSound 3D or MIDI.
I ran the Creative Diagnose and I became the following result:

I already tried to find a driver update or anything else but didn't find anything.
I'm running the board on a Shuttle AK39N, with Windows 98 SE.

There is a software autoupdate there.
On mthe autoupdate I only get this:
---Start of output---
Products on your system
Sound Blaster Live! 5.1
Status:No updates are necessary for your Creative product.
Your system already has the latest versions installed.
---End of output---
Which is true ... but I don't get DirectSound and the other stuff to get running...
Ah maybe this helps you:
Under the device manager I see the stuff as:
Creative EMU10K1 Audio Processor
Creative EMU10K1 Gameport
Creative Joystick Emulation
MPU-401 Compatible
I don't know if the latter is one of the thing from the Mainboard-builtin audio components so I listed it here.
Please I need this really urgently.

Have you updated your DirectX? DirectX has add-ons for sound I do believe. get it at http://www.microsoft.com/w
Also make sure all your Critical Updates/Service Packs are installed
Get the latest Creative Live drivers from here: http://us.creative.com/sup
Install DirectX, as suggested by Vinnnnie above, but get the last known stable version in Windows 98 which is version 8.1.
Versions 9, 9a, 9b, etc are very buggy and problematic in Windows 98 and cannot be uninstalled by regular methods.
Right-Click the link below and select "Save Target As" to start the download of the installer file.

Thank you all guys...
I just got it to work, the problem was that the installation of the driver did not finish. At the end of the installation I was being asked to insert the Windows 98 SE CD, so I did and shortly after I ran into the Blue Screen of Death :) because the installation routine tried to access the Driver CD again.
The problem was that the components are registered at the end of the routine...
Thank you very much,
And have a nice Christmas ;)
Thank you, Snyke.
There's also a common problem you can run into, and that's where you have a .wav file set to play as a sound event as Windows starts. If the sound card hasn't been fully set up, then it is highly likely to cause a conflict that can end with a screen freeze and, I suppose, a blue screen.
I suppose that is another benefit to having all your .cab files and the driver file on your hard drive. Some driver setups will always look for a CD, while others assume the source to be where the installation was instigated.
Glad you are up and running properly, and have a really festive Christmas yourself.
