Question

Win98SE Universal Flash Drive Driver?

Asked by: longwar

Hi to all expert here,
I am currently using Win98SE as my OS. Recently bought a USB 128MB Flash Drive from the net but found that the driver included in a CD was unreadable. Tried to get back to the seller but the seller is not responding. Hence finding my luck here to solve my problem. the flash drive is a OEM product and it have no bland name but only a serial number of "128MB5E307410081". there is no where i can track down the driver from the net.

anyway, the question is, i like to know if there is a Universal Flash Drive Driver that is left out in Win98SE to help me in accessing this flash drive of mine? i remember that when i plug in the drive into my pc, it ask me for this "USB MASS STORAGE" driver. i have no idea of it. pls enlighten me. thks

Hi longwar,

Try plugging it in again and point the new hardware wizard to windowsupdate. You have a good chance that they'll have the right driver for you.

Greetings,

LucF

I've found that "any" usb flask driver driver works.  Download / install any of these
http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&lr=&ie=UTF-8&oe=utf-8&q=128mb+usb+drive+driver+download+98se&btnG=Google+Search
and try it out

I agree with LucF longwar but instead of doing it that way just go to windows update and install all the updates for 98SE and hopefully there will be a driver for your flash drive. And I have looked through those results in google that liddler posted but none of them seem to have  a universal driver for a USB flash Disk so again I say that your best hope is windows update.

Yours Sincerely.

What happens if you just let the new hardware wizard search for a driver on your own drive, win98SE should just be able to recognize the USB memmory stick.

LucF won't aida32 be able to recognise his USB flash drive if it is plugged in? Because I think the main problem we have here is the "no manafacturer" part?

vmsun22,

You should first look at the comments we gave above if they're helpful in your case. If they're not, don't post in the question, as you're not very likely to get any responce, but create your own question.

Please take a look at the helppages on asking questions:

Also, never, ever post your e-mail address on experts exchange unless you like spam. Spiders are crawling these pages, and also it's prohibited by the Member Agreement.

If you like, post a link to your new question (the URL) here and I'll take a look at it.

Thanks,
