Hey Guys..
I don't really have access to this computer so I can't really check it out. I was just hoping someone had dealt with this before. I'm sure it's a "u" and not the tilda ~ Sunray, I've already had to search around for that one, but thanks for the suggestions so far guys. Keep em coming.

Send your friend a zipped .bat file:
@echo off
regedit /e c:\deskspace.txt HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Softwar
That's just a 2-line batch file with spaces like this:
@echo off <new line>
regedit <space> /e <space> c:\deskspace.txt <space> HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Softwar
that will export that key to the file C:\deskspace.txt which could be emailed back to you.
The file should probably only contain this:
REGEDIT4
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Softwa
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Softwa
@="Recycle Bin"
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Softwa
@="My Documents"
Post it here.

sounds strange...
try this. go to Start->run and type
msconfig
click on the startup tab and de-select all checkboxes listed. delete the folder "u" and reboot the computer. Now check to see if the folder is there again. If not, then it is a startup program that is creating the folder and by en-abling one checkbox at a time and rebooting you can determine what program is causing this. Post the name of the program here and I can find out what it is doing.
