IE 5.5 hijacked by undefined search engine

I use Windows 98SE and IE 5.5, which shows "blank", yet am undefined page comes up showing still "about:blank" in the address field, while a full page "SEARCH FOR..." displays. There are also several smaller browser windows that pop up, warning that spyware is using my computer and to "click here" for removal. I use the latest AdAware 6.0, just updated before this happened, SpyBot 1.3, also updated, SpyWareBlaster 3.1, Zone Alarm 5.0.590.043 and AVG antivirus, all latest, yet this occupies my browser and does not allow me through until I responded to several popups by killing them. How do I get rid of this?
