Hello samassrl =)

Try installing these drivers >> http://www.printer-drivers.com/drivers/38/38237.htm
or these ones >> http://www.printer-drivers.com/drivers/4/4048.htm

one of the driver was without .inf so I got an error

tell him to point the install wizard to
c:\windows and c:\windows\system and c:\windows\system32 The files may be there
also see if this directory exists
c:\windows\options\cabs
If so, these are the same files as on the w98 cd and it should install

The driver is on the following webpage:

http://www.epson.com/cgi-bin/Store/support/supDetail.jsp?BV_UseBVCookie=yes&oid=14312

I just went to the Epson site, clicked on USA and searched by LQ 2550.

hmmmmmmm and i think that if you can lend a Win98 from somewhere..... that will also gonna do the job for you :)

by: BillDLPosted on 2004-12-02 at 02:30:13ID: 12724452

I followed gonzal13's link and found the driver file there.  Although it is titled "driver for LQ-2550 Impact Printer", it is actually a generic driver file for "EPSON Generic 24Pin With Euro for Windows 3.1, 95, 98, and NT from 3.50 to 4.0".

ftp://ftp.epson.com/drivers/epson10752.exe

It is a self-extracting zip file which creates a load of superfluous folders for those other operating systems besides Windows 98, so you can delete the folders: WIN95, WINNT350, WINNT351 and WINNT40, and leave the WIN98 folder.

I have a feeling that all you will need are the 2 files in the WIN98 folder, but even zipping up the files in the root of the folder you unzipped the download to, it should create a file just over 500 KB which will be OK for emailing.

Thank you, samassrl, but wasn't it gonzal13's link to the driver download that helped you to resolve the issue of "which files you needed"?

Of course, it is your decision. Perhaps my additional details helped to pinpoint the required files within the download file to allow a small enough file for transmission by email to your boss, but wouldn't it have been better to split the points between gonzal13 and myself?

by: samassrlPosted on 2004-12-02 at 23:56:20ID: 12733733

You are right it is probabily better to split the points.
Can please somebody split the points or tell me how to do once an aswer has been accepted?

Thanks

Bill:

Thanks for your comments about the points. Although the most important objective is to help, the points are always welcome.

Thank you for that, samassrl.

I seem to have caused a mix up when I suggested that you look at that other page with exactly the same problem for splitting points  :-)
