The Solution Rating System

With so many solutions, how can you tell which solutions are most likely to help you and which ones are not? To provide you with a tool to use, we rate our solutions based on various elements that most accurately determine if a solution is a quality solution. To explain what factors affect the solution rating, here are the elements we take into consideration when formulating our solution rating.

  • The Grade of the Solution
  • The Zone Rank of the Expert Providing the Solution
  • The Number of Author and Expert Comments
  • The Number of Experts Contributing
  • The Feedback of the Community

Your Input Matters
Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. As a member of Experts Exchange, you are able to cast your vote on the quality of the solutions in regard to how complete, accurate, helpful and easy to understand each solution is. When you provide your feedback, each rating is adjusted accordingly. So, if you see a solution that has a poor rating that you think is a good solution, let us know by rating it. As you do, the rating will be adjusted and will become more accurate for other members of our site.

If you have any suggestions that you would like to make for our rating system, please ask a question in the Suggestions Zone of Community Support.

Thank you!

Adding W98SE to an existing W2000 System

Asked by flubbster in Windows 98 Operating System

Greetings all. I recently put together an old system for my 9 year old to use that is running W2000. I installed that system for one very specific reason: A certain game on Cartoonnetwork.com required W2000 or better to run lol. Anyway, the system runs fine. It is a PII 400 MHz with 256MRam and a 128 MRam Video Card. The problem now is that he misses all his great games that he ran on W98SE which can't run on W2000. I have read a whole lot of info on trying to install W98 AFTER installing W2000 and it seems rife with problems. Apparently, the correct way is the opposite order.... W98 first, then W2000. I have no desire to wipe it clean and start from scratch again. I am no expert by any means so I need some help and suggestions on the best way to accomplish this. I will purchase a second Hard Drive if neccessary. The original one is a 12 Gig drive. What is the cleanest, fastest and most important, EASIEST way to accomplish what I need? If I install a second drive, will there be an issue with the new drive not being drive C: ? Does W98SE need to be installed on C: ?  Will W2000 be able to use it's built in Boot Manager to let me select which system to boot? Please help, and please try to give as much detail as possible. I admit that I should probably have as much of a step-by-step procedure as possible. The Computer itself is an old Aptiva that was totally wiped clean and formatted before installing W2000. Thanks for all the help.
