I spent the whole day formatting and reinstalling everything yesterday. So you want me to format again? :(

Browse All TopicsHi,
I formatted my old computer (by that I mean restoring the computer to its factory state using a recovery cd). Someone suggested me to use a program called driver magician to backup the drivers before formatting, so I did that. But after I've formatted the PC, the PCI network card driver still couldn't be installed. What to do? The name of the card is 3Com EtherLink III ISA (3C509b-TPO) in PnP mode. I did not remove the PCI network card when I was formatting. Should I have removed the PCI card before doing that?
I downloaded a folder from driverguide.com for my adapter but I don't know how to use it. It's called disk2.zip from http://members.driverguide

Start by redoing therestore wth minimal hardware, or after removing the PCI card.
Restore, DO NOT use the old drivers. After Windows is working well, visit Windows Update to bring the OS up to date.
ALWAYS reboot when asked to.
When finished updating, try installing the NIC.
