Actually top_rung is correct, the Membership Agreement you clicked "Accept" to when you signed up for the site prevents members posting information on how to defeat copyright protection. There are lots of sites that can probably sort this out for you but Experts-Exchange isn't one of them.
This is part of the agreement: http://www.experts-exchang
Hi, again, if the copyright it is using is actively preventing you from copying it, attempting to workaround it or breaking it is illegal.
There are several methods to backup your purchased music by bypassing protection, but you will be hard pressed to get specific steps here as previously stated. I think it is ridiculous that you can't easily backup your purchased music, and IMO, the best you can do it not purchase those protected as such- that is the loudest message you can send to the industry. Sorry, but that is the way it is.

If the copyright protection that the CD is using prevents you from "ripping" it, then it would be illegal to do so.
Try using windows media player to rip the CD. If it also tells you it can't due to protection, then you won't get help here. Good luck.
