The below link explains how to put a password on this printer.
http://forums11.itrc.hp.com/service/forums/bizsupport/questionanswer.do?threadId=1133010&prodTypeId=18972&prodSeriesId=415204

It appears you want a password protect for all users.  You can do this on each individual's workstation through the Properties of the 4345.

Hope that helps.

on the M4345 there are half a dozen different password settings for individual parts
- PW to protect the webserver
- PJL Password
- Harddisk Password
- SNMP Password
- For Printjobs by using job storage (post from michko)
- for feature (eg. to protect the scan-to-email button or others) protection using PINs or PW's for users

What do you want to do exactly?

Cheers

When you're at the Web interface, look for the Settings tab, then "Security".  Here you can set the pw for the Settings and Networking tabs.

There are two ways to do this:

- You can remove the Administrator button from the front panel
   - on the device webserver go to the Settings Tab
   - on the settings tab, choose the Home Screen Setup menu on the left, last entry in the menu list
   - uncheck "administration" and hit apply

or you can lock the menu's below the administrator button. There are different lock levels and the higher the level the more menus will be locked.
   - on the device webserver go to the Settings Tab
   - on the settings tab, choose the Security menu on the left
   - Click the configure button under device security settings (middle of the three buttons)
   - Scroll down to "Control Panel Access Lock" and choose a level of protection

Either way, to unlock the menus again or to display the administrator button you will need to enable/unlock it on the device's webserver first. There is no way to unlock or enable the administrator button again at the device itself (except erasing the whole device configuration with a cold reset).

cheers
Lex
