Blue Screen and Error Messages

My puter was just sitting quietly and then up came the following message on a blue Screen:

An exception OE has occurred at
0028:C000E8B3 in Vxd VMM (01)+0000D8BE.

This was called from 0028:C004AC9F in VFAT (01)+0000B23F, followed by the usual message.

I hit a key and 0028:C004AC9F changed to 0000B16,

I hit another key and it changed again to 0000B3B0.

All then returned to normal and a few minutes later the screen went blue again and I got the following message:
'An error has occurred... followed by the usual message and then

File name VMM(01) + 0000 DC96.
Error OE 0028:C000EC96.

I then hit a key and IE then closed and the system froze, I rebooted and all started normally.

Any clues please people?
