msn messenger freeze

hi.

today i tried to d/l the msn 6.0 from msn.com. but b4 i d/l the software, i already had the msn messenger 6.0 beta. so i d/l the real msn messenger and now after the beta version was deleted, everytime i try to log in it freezes [freezes after a while i type my name and password]..

could dere be an error associated with the beta version that causes the real version of msn to freeze. i tried reinstallin the real version but nothing works :'(...

plz help

Greetings, azn_shamen!
  Make sure Windows Installer 2 is on your computer.

http://download.microsoft.com/download/WindowsInstaller/Install/2.0/W9XMe/EN-US/InstMsiA.exe

Check for corrupted registry. Click Start > Run and type scanreg /restore or scanreg /fix

Perform a System Restore to a date before the problem occurred.

I've read a number of reviews here and I have had similar experiences with 6.0. However, due to a after installing 6.0 that was bundled with MSN 8 software, my hard drive was wiped clean...including restore data. (Win ME) Yes, that's right. Microsoft is well aware that there are compatibility issues with 6.0 and operating systems other than XP or 2000. Yet, they install 6.0 when you install MSN 8. It even says on the CD for operating systems Win 98 or later. 6.0 will install, but most likely it is corrupt. It may appear and work just fine, but problems will appear eventually. My wipe out when MSN sent a forced update that 6.0 couldn't take so it barfed all over the hard drive. Take my word, if you aren't running at least 2000, DO NOT INSTALL 6.0. It was not designed for your system.

I've found a bug.. it seems to freeze out at times, or suddenly log you off.

I've also been chatting to somebody who was apparently "offline" - that can't be right!

Based on the comments, I guess u wouldn't want your harddrive wiped out before u have to get into more problems troubleshooting right?

I always believe that preventive is better than cure. Well, netherless, u can go ahead with trying. :-)
