Or Get a copy of winobj.exe and delete the shortcut name of prn. However this is very dodgy. Are you sure that the filename is being requested as filename.prn and not filename :prn.
winobj is available from www.ntinternals.com (another great gadget from Mark Russinovich) You can even use it to set permissions on devices such as floppy disk drives and com ports etc.

good question urm think you will have problems but try deleting the HKLM\system\ccs\control\se ssion manager DOS Devices\ PRN key???
