I went through the options and tried it both by selecting all folders manually or by selecting "ignore these folders" and leaving that blank.

by: amyotPosted on 2005-01-31 at 04:15:16ID: 13181894

yes. this is in my test lab. the 5.5 server is running on an nt4 pdc (not so in production) and I am logged on with the domain admin account that was used to install exchange. I have verified that it is the service account. all services are running. I had run ds/is consistency adjuster on this so I could open the properties of the mailboxes as I didn't have the directory available for restore. But, I had done this before without the directory. I appreciate your attention to this matter.

under the data tab make sure the first 2 tick boxex are selected

then in the folders tab, after selecting all the folders, look on the bottom and you will see another tick box "apply actions to sub folders of all selected folders", make sure it is ticked as well

I tested it and it works by only using the ignore this folders option, but i was logged to the machine with the exchange server service account

cheers

exmerge doesn't run without the information store running.

by: amyotPosted on 2005-01-31 at 08:18:17ID: 13183905

allow me to clarify that. exmerge runs but it won't open the mailboxes or create the list of mailboxes.

by: mcp_jonPosted on 2005-01-31 at 08:23:25ID: 13183957

That's very weird, never seen anything like that !!

Do you have access to a newer version of the Exmerge tool, for Exchange 2003 SP1 ????

Get it, and retry with it !!

Best Regards !

by: amyotPosted on 2005-01-31 at 08:24:28ID: 13183968

newer versions of exmerge don't run on 5.5. I had to do some digging to find an old one that worked.

by: mcp_jonPosted on 2005-01-31 at 08:28:04ID: 13184000

It could be Permissions !!! Have you given yourself permissions to access the users mauilbox ???

Try to check it out !!

by: mcp_jonPosted on 2005-02-01 at 01:06:53ID: 13190824

ahmedbahgat , I agree with you, but on a recent Exchange 2003 seminar, it was said that the newer EXMERGE from Exchange 2003 with SP1 is retro-compatible with 2000, e.g., so I thought to give it a shot and try make it work with the 5.5.

Best Regards !!

by: amyotPosted on 2005-02-01 at 04:16:44ID: 13191723

the 2003 sp1 exmerge will run against the 5.5 store, but it still isn't working. I have a call in to MS support and will update this posting with whatever the solution is. thanks for everyone's help.
