The device, \Device\Scsi\cpqcissm1, did not respond within the timeout period.

Hi all,
I am a SQL guy trying to figure a way around this error that keeps popping up in the server's event log every other week. I know very (very) little about disk controllers and am completely lost as to how to deal with this error. I havent noticed any application failing due to these errors but I want to make sure all is well. I did some looking around and found out that most of the times this error comes up is when we run data updation processes on our SQL databases. This could be an indication that the controller has trouble generating the throughput required at times and thus raises the error message.
My question is this, is there a way to raise the the threshold (timeout period) to stop these error messages from coming up because SQL Server seems to work around these errors??
