How i can reinstall SQL 7 on NT4 reinstalled server (over old installation), without lose SQL setting

How i can reinstall SQL7 on NT4 reinstalled server (the same server reinstalled over the old installation), without lose SQL setting. Actually NT4 s.o. is now ok (winth sp6a), but SQL7 dosnt start. I try to run setup for reinstall it from CD, but the installation program find the components of old SQL7 and stop.
I must uninstall and reinstall it? In this case i will lose all the SQL7 setting?
