I currently have a Pres Server 4.5 Advanced farm. There is no built in functionality (to my knowledge) in this version, to limit CPU usage of programs. For example, say microsoft Word spikes the cpu at 100%, there is no tool in the Advanced edition that can automatically throttle that process down to say 40-50% cpu.
This is causing a lot of problems with my Pres servers. Users will run apps and Spike the CPU at 100% and really bog the system down. Anyone know of a way to throttle the processes without upgrading to platinum ?

If your product was Citrix Pres Server 4.5 Enterprise Edition then you were able to use the included CPU Utilization Management.

It is not neccessary to buy Platinum.
Look at these shortcuts for proof of that.

If you want to stay on the advanced edition, then you should consider buying a 3rd party tool, to control the CPU usage.
Appsense amongst others, does sell such a solution, but I wonder if it is cheaper for you to upgrade your Citrix version to Enterprise Edition.

It is a little simple to configure, but it should work.
