How do I demote an NT BDC to a stand alone server.

All of a sudden my NT 4 server is not connecting properly to the domain. I'd like to disjoin and then rejaoin, but it seems that it must have been a BDC. How can I verify that it is a BDC, and if it is, how do I demote it so I can disjoin from my 2k3 domain so that i can rejoin? If that makes sense.
