Hi dude,

You will need to find a network card which is NT version 4 compatible.

Shutdown the PC, remove the power cable and open the case.  Locate the closest PCI/ISA port to the processor which is not being used and insert the card.

When the machine reboots you will be prompted to install new hardware.  Insert the drivers CD, select the "Have Disk" option for driver install and proceed through the standard driver installation.

If you have any problems, post and i will get back to you asap.

Hi Ben,

The network "card"  I would like to "add" is an onboard network "card" (port).
How do I get it into a state of (promting) for inserting the drivers?

to get it to prompt for netowrk drivers you will need to go into add/remove hardware (in control panel)... i think (cant remember NT4 that well).

Alternatively, get the NT4 drivers on a disk, stick it in and run the installer program.

Hi Ben,

Thanks for the help. Its been some time since I used NT as well.
There is no add / remove hardware function but I managed to get to that function, only problem seems there is an IRQ conflict. I will continue to try. If you know how to sort out IRQ conflicts in NT4 please give feedback.

IRQ conlifts are very rare... what makes you think its a conflict?

When I install a network driver, after restarting the pc I loose the mouse control and the PC stops responding.
I then do a cold boot and go into safe mode.
I think you may be right about the IRQ, as I am trying various network drivers to find a compatible one.
The drivers may be causing some sort of a conflict.

thats way more likely than an IRQ conflict.

Whats the card, I'll have a look and see if i have drivers in one of my driver stores
