NT4 EIDE mirror drive error

Tags: Microsoft, NT Server, NT4 service pack 6, This is an old Exchange 5.5 server

In NT4 I have mirrored 2 drives on the same primary controller. Every thing appears to work fine and NT forces a reboot of the server for changes to take place.

When the NT server is rebooting it get stuck on the blue nt screen with only on period displaying. The system then goes into a reboot loop and the system won't start. When I disconnect the second drive the server restart fine.

SysExpert:

1) Either the second drive is not workin gproperly, or you may have a power supply issue.

Test the second drive in a separate machine using the Vendor's Diagnostics CD to see if the drive passes all tests.

You might look at UBCD or UBCD4WIN for a CD that has a lot of diagnostics tools on it.

Did the standard OS install on this system. The main disk is the mirrored disk after the main disk failed.
I'm attempting to add a second disk drive to establish a new mirror set.

You need more than the standard install - you have to provide RAID drivers for the controller when it asks you to press F6 if you have additional drivers. Sometimes, you can just install them onto an existing Windows setup and then reconfigure for RAID afterwards.
