VMWare ESX 3.5 and iSCSI.  Configuration discussion need a spot of advice ...

Hi folks,

I'm in the process of configuring a VMWare ESX 3.5 server with HP MSA1510i iSCSI controller and an MSA20 storage box.

I'm looking into a couple of ways of configuring the iSCSI storage but could do with some opinions.

Ok options are as follows

Option 1
-----------
Create 2x Targets, 1x VMWare VMFS Storage (For server hard disks) and 1x Std Windows storage space.  Use the VMWare VMFS storage to store the server hard disks then use the Microsoft iSCSI client to connect to the 1x Std Windows storage partition to store data.

Option 2
-----------
Dedicate all of the storage to 1x VMFS partition (Or a number of smaller storage VMFS's) and dedicate enough space to each server to allow it to function with it's associated operating system as well of having plenty of space for files etc.

I was just wondering what people were doing with this sort of stuff ? I've gone for option 1 at the moment but may be looking to modify my approach depending on the sort of feedback I get.

Thanks in advance folks !
