Functioning Initialized disks show up as unitialized disks in Windows Disk Manager

I have a Dell PowerEdge 2850 running Windows Server 2003 Standard Edition.   The system has an integrated Perc 4e/Di Raid Controller.  My Raid controller shows both backplane arrays as active and all drives as error free.  The system itself is running fine but when I was going through my system I noticed that in Computer Management the Dell Disk Manager OpenManage Array Manager shows correct information on my hard drives and arrays.  When I try to access the hard drive information through Windows Disk manaagement it shows two unitialized drives and attempts to go through the initialization wizzard.
Of course the disks are already properly initialized as the system is up and running so I canceled out of the wizzard.  It appears that Windows Disk Management is not communicating correctly with my Perc Raid Controller. I am not sure when this started but I think it began around Jan 6th as I see some perfdisk errors in the application event log starting around that time.
I also have an error in my system event log related to an I/O operation initiated by the registry that failed unrecoverably.  I have had similar registry I/O errors in the past and have always recovered from them through a system reboot.  I'm not sure if that error is related or not......
Has anyone encountered a similar problem?  I have the feeling a simple reboot may solve this issue.  Of course I won't attempt a reboot until a full system backup completes but I was hoping to have a little more information  about this error before I do so.
