The Solution Rating System

With so many solutions, how can you tell which solutions are most likely to help you and which ones are not? To provide you with a tool to use, we rate our solutions based on various elements that most accurately determine if a solution is a quality solution. To explain what factors affect the solution rating, here are the elements we take into consideration when formulating our solution rating.

  • The Zone Rank of the Expert Providing the Solution
  • The Number of Author and Expert Comments
  • The Number of Experts Contributing
  • The Feedback of the Community

Your Input Matters
Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. Vista Installation problem

I installed Windows Vista in my laptop a few months ago. I like it. It started to have a problem, so i decided to reinstall it cleanly (as i have just upgraded before) - so while i was doing that, the power in my laptop died (the battery went as the power cable had became unplugged) so the computer turned off.

Now when i turn on the computer, it comes up with the HP screen, and then it will come up with "Roll back" or "Windows Vista" options - so when i press rollback, it goes in to reboot mode, and when i press Vista, it goes to a DOS screen (in size 800x600 when i normally have it as 1200x768 or something like that)

Anyway - what i would like to know, is how i install vista on my computer now.

I have tried to boot from disk but it will not work (the disk drive works, and the disk works) and when i press in dos "winload.exe" it comes up "windows can not operate this program in win32 mode"

I can not get to the main windows menus, cant get in to safe mode

So to recap

Installed vista from XP home as upgrade
Installed Vista from Vista as new install
Power was cut from computer during phase 2 of installation
When boot up computer now to re start or continue installation - does not workStart Free Trial
