Cannot boot up XP Pro

Was working on computer, surfing the internet when I got a messaage from Kaspersky about one website that had malicious code.  I started to close everything down and got an error message, a windows error message about not finding a drive or something, wasn't paying attention.  But I  closed all the open windows with the intent of opening a new IE window and then got the same error popup.  That the shortcut on the quick launch for IE had the wrong target, maybe?

Anyway, thought I would reboot.  So I did and it will not come back on.  I tried to start in safemode but when I do, all I see is line upon line of the list of drivers in system 32.  Then doesn't go any farther.

I also tried "Last known good configuration" but that does nothing either.  Just goes to a dark screen and sits there.

I have no idea really what happened, might have been kaspersky trying to remove something that started it but I don't know how to get the computer started now.
