Fille and Transfer Wizard woes

Asked by mlitin in Microsoft Windows Operating Systems, Windows XP Operating System, Microsoft Operating Systems

Hi  Experts that enjoy a challenge...

I'm completely perplexed and greatly would appreciate ideas...

In preparation of a system refresh (from a recovery partition), using file and transfer wizard, I backed up files and settings for the PC to 3 dvd's.  After the refresh, I launched F&STW and inserted disk 1, and F&STW said it was the wrong disk.  Looking at the contents of the dvd, I see 1 file of 0 bytes, but the disk fully allocated with no visible file(s).  Disk two looks normal as a single file (USMT2IMG.DAT) of 4.6 GBs.  I don't know how, if the F&STW process worked without an apparent hitch what could have gone wrong.  My challenge, of course, is now how to restore all of the valuable info irom the archive, which I assume means how to bring to light the contents of the disk.  Are there any ideas as to how to do this?  Alternatively, can I start a recovery with disk two of three some how if disk 1 is toast?

Any ideas would be most welcome.

The environment is XP media center.

Thanks in advance.
