Trouble burning copy disc command using Windows internal system or Power2Go version 6
I bought a few DVD+R, double layer, 8.5 GB disks as well as some older CD-RW 700MB cd's to burn copies of program disks that I have.
I could not get the Windows Live File System format or Mastered format, which are the new commands in Vista. I could not get either old program disks that should be with the CD-RW to complete the copy, nor could I get the newer disks that are on DVD to burn to the ones that are labled DVD+R.
So I purchased Power2Go version 6 (version 5 was included on my laptop when I got it) and I cannot get it to finish one single copy. It comes back with an error every time. I tried to make the copy speed slow, and all other sorts of parameters to see what would work. I sent in a support request to Cyberlink (the makers of Power2Go) but have not heard back.
I am on a Lenovo Ideapad Y510 Notebook, with a newly OEM installation of Vista Unlimited SP2 64 bit with upgrade to 4GB ram.
My DVD is Optiarc DVD RW AD-7560A ATA Device. I do not see a 64 bit driver for this, only 32 bit when I look at the drivers in device manager.
Did I buy the wrong type of discs for the newer copy command? If so, this is what MicroCenter sales person recommended that I get.

What was the error message that you got when the buring failed?

I am going to see if I can get it to repeat the error message and I will post it as an attachment.

Corel47, I tried the first solution of yours as well and will come back with the results. I have a interview for lunch and will finish up this afternoon or tonight. Thanks.

Microsoft ran a test and although they had a window for me to proceed, they wanted $59 to tell me what to do.
I am attaching the diagnosis from Microsoft Fixit.

I could not attach at it was HTML.
I did everything else except download the other sites mentioned by Corel47 above.

If you still have the html file, try running it through the htm-2-text converter, and see if it is still readable, and attach as a txt file.
Or take a screenshot of it and attach as jpg or bmp.

I have attached but it appears now that Windows did not find any problems?
It is also a mess to look at.

Strange. It kind of looked like Windows didn't know how to deal with that drive.
You say it is working now?

Nope, it still does not burn or write to either a DVD or the older CD RW.
I have now tried Power2Go version 5, 5.5 and 6, and their tech support is awol.
I tried windows movie maker for some videos I made, no luck.
I also tried the windows burn program that is part of explorer and it would not work either.
I tried to contact Sony, whom I believe makes the Optiarc DVD and found a specific download for the DVD players with the model number Optiarc DVD RW AD-7560A ATA and many other models but they list all operating systems the downloads are good for and I do not see any that are for Vista Unlimited 64 bit.
I am supplying a link in the event someone has this Optiarc DVD on their pc and are having problems, because it looks like this thing, regardless of model is a big problem.

I did download the program that you listed earlier but have not tried it out yet. Will let you know. It seems like I spend most of my time messing with this laptop (and yea I know I am probably 90% of the problem)

One other question on this. Should the device driver for this be a 64 bit?
Does it matter?
Does it matter?
It should be part of whatever motherboard chipset driver Vista 64 is using. Since you stated it is an OEM Vista 64 install, it should be correct.

I did install ImgBurn and tried to write to a DVD+R some data files. This is the error I got:
