PC beep through main speakers

WIN XP
AC97 sound system


I am trying to get the pc speaker beep (which works ok by using the windows API beep on the internal PC speaker) to be emitted from the main speakers.
I know most people want to disable it! I
I have ensured its enabled in device manager (hidden system devices - beep)
Its not muted
As far as I can see theres no applicable registry entries.
I've enabled it in Tweakui
Is there anything I've overlooked?
