I need to get this maching a be able to access shared folders stored on the 2008 server.
Is it possible - and if so how?

Well im not sure on whats available in the "Core" 3.11 installation. But if it has either a coaxial or maybe even a ethernet adapter my guess would be IPX. But i think you needed Novell software to enable it, and it wasnt core functionality as far as i know.
Else you might be limited to parallel or serial connections. Using hyper terminal you should be able to connect the latter of modern systems..
Also if it is the "Windows 3.1 for workgroups" then the IPX protocol should be available. And it gets quite hard finding any manuals for these old OSes. But... Maybe this resource can help.
