Stdole2.tlb?
What's the purpose of this file. You know I have some problems with two apps installed at the same time and I suspect that this file and its registration have something to do with it.

STanDard Object Linking Embedding version 2 . Table LiBrary.
This is used for things like when you click Import or Export and it allows you to use different file formats in different applications. I.e. Import a Paint Shop Pro picture into your word processing package.
Right click the file and click properties. Check the version. You can find updates on the Microsoft WEB site.
STOLE2.TLB stands for Standard Object Linking Embedding version 2 . Table Library. This is one of four files used by Windows for the Automation files (formerly OLE Automation (Object Linking Embedding)). You have used the OLE functions every time you have cut and pasted anything or captured the entire contents of a form, letter picture and then move it.
The four files that comprise the OLE Automation are:
Oleaut32.dll
Olepro32.dll
Asycfilt.dll
Stdole2.tlb
If the programs that you have installed need the Automation files and they are missing or corrupted then you would get an error. These files must stay synchronized.
For instants: VISUAL BASIC 5.0 framework controls are all dependent on having OLE Automation System files installed. Any of the Automation files missing you get error or the controls don't work.
You didn't mention the errors or the programs you have installed. A possible solution would be to download the following file from Microsoft's Software Library Web site.

If you have Office 97, Visual Basic 5.0, Visual Studio 97, Internet Explorer 3.0, or Visual C++ 5.0, you should already have these Automation system files.
However, updating these files could cause other programs to quit working if they installed a newer version of the files.
