The Solution Rating System

With so many solutions, how can you tell which solutions are most likely to help you and which ones are not? To provide you with a tool to use, we rate our solutions based on various elements that most accurately determine if a solution is a quality solution. To explain what factors affect the solution rating, here are the elements we take into consideration when formulating our solution rating.

  • The Grade of the Solution
  • The Zone Rank of the Expert Providing the Solution
  • The Number of Author and Expert Comments
  • The Number of Experts Contributing
  • The Feedback of the Community

Your Input Matters
Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. As a member of Experts Exchange, you are able to cast your vote on the quality of the solutions in regard to how complete, accurate, helpful and easy to understand each solution is. When you provide your feedback, each rating is adjusted accordingly. So, if you see a solution that has a poor rating that you think is a good solution, let us know by rating it. As you do, the rating will be adjusted and will become more accurate for other members of our site.

If you have any suggestions that you would like to make for our rating system, please ask a question in the Suggestions Zone of Community Support.

Reinstalling Office 97 Professional

Asked by benjeteh in Windows 95 Operating System

Recently when I installed my Windows 98 upgrade and also did some installation for some small softwares downloaded from the internet, I noticed that my Powerpoint 97 in Office 97 Professional Upgrade Version was not working. I first tried uninstalling the Powerpoint 97 and reinstalling hoping that it would solve the problem. Then it was looking for Kernel32.dll file. To make sure that there were no missing files in the OS I did a reinstallation of my Windows 98 again, which was successful.

With the advice from a friend I uninstalled the whole Office 97 and then reinstalled Office 95 first before installing Office 97 as that is an upgrade version.

The problem came after this. Now everything cannot be launched and also the Office shortcut does not appear.

When I tried to launch the Powerpoint 97 it was looking for missing MSO97.dll file. I found the file in my C drive and copied it over to the Office folder. The logo launched but not the programme. I tried launching the Words 97 and it tells me I am out of memory, when I have 128 MB Ram.

Please advise, as I am getting very frustrated with trying to reinstall the Office 97. I am now relying on my Office 95 to do my work.

This is to me is a very difficult problem - especially when I do not have any idea what is going on. I have the software that cannot be reinstalled.
