Browse All TopicsI've installed windows with the volume controll and everything but when I go to play a CD and hit volume control it tells me that I need to install a mixer device or go to the control panel and activate the mixer device but when I go there it says that I have no mixer device. so how do I install a mixer device?

I sounds like your sound cards utility.
What brand of sound card do you have.
Remove it and all it's references, re-boot, shutdown, put the sound card back in and reinstall it's software.

I think it's time to upgrade KKKKK
Please tell us the vitals your system, ie; cpu make and model,
How much ram , pci, type of mouse, video adapter, network, what
kind of Network Adapter, significant software and anything you can
think of. Operating System and version. Updates, Service Packs.
Do you have or did have IE4X and ACTIVE DESKTOP? Busmastering?
Latest installations of programs.
There are many variables and we could spend weeks trying to solve
something while I don't know what we're working with. :)

Uncheck everything in Multimedia, the computer will tell you to re-boot. Re-boot, go back to the multimedia and from details check everything, OK, have your CD ready because it will ask you for it. Then just do what the prompts tell you.
