I did something and it now says that there is only 256 memory, but needing 512 to reinstall Vista Unltimate 64 bit on this Lenovo Y510 with 4gb ram.
I have been able to do a dxdiag and some other stuff but do not know how to unravel this mess.
Under dxdiag, it says under system:
OS Windows Vista Ultimate (6.0, Build 6002)
System Manufacture n/a
System Model n/a
Bios n/a
Processor n/a (2 CPU's)
Memory 254MB Ram
Page File 411 MB used, 3907 available
Direct X Version DirectX 10
I then run 64 bit DXDIAG:
Nothing happened, maybe because i am in safe mode.
Can anyone tell me what test or whatever to run or look at so I can come back here and report it to move forward on this?
Last thing I remember before this mess was downloading a couple of registry analysis programs and maybe doing to changes to the system startup files based on the recommendation of those programs.
I cannot access the DVD via bootup, only when in windows, even though I have indicated in Bios to go to DVD first.

Are you sure you can't bootup off a CD? Did you wait for the "Press any key to boot from CD..." prompt to come on startup?
