I currently have Windows 7 build 7000 (32-bit) and Windows Vista (32-bit) installed, and I am looking to install Windows 7 RC (64-bit) and erase the other 2 OS's. I am booting from a DVD and am getting the following message:
"A required CD/DVD drive device driver is missing. If you have a driver floppy disk, CD, DVD, or USB flash drive, please insert it now.
Note: If the Windows installation media s in the CD/DVD drive, you can safely remove it for this step."
My setup is:
AMD Athlon 64 X2 4200+ Processor
Asus A8n Sli Deluxe motherboard
EVGA Nvidia 8800 GTS 512mb
2GB RAM
320GB WD HD, 1TB WD HD
2x SONY 16X DVD±R DVD Burner Black IDE Model DWQ28A
I tried unplugging my TV tuner, secondary HD, and all unnecessary USB components as suggested in another answer, but I am still getting this problem every time I try to run the setup.
I put in the motherboard cd and have browsed to every folder, and tried installing any driver that came up to be compatible with my system (which was very few). After I pressed next, it said that no new devices were discovered and brought me back to the original menu to find more drivers. One driver returned the following error:
-The Nvidia CK804 ADMA Controller (v2.7) device driver could not be installed. Contact your vendor for an updated driver.
I also tried inserting my graphics card cd and it returned the following error:
-The Nvidia GeForce 8800 GTS 512 device driver could not be installed. Contact your vendor for an updated driver.
I figured this problem may be resolved if I tried booting from a flash drive instead of the DVD, but I was unable to get all the necessary components for 64bit Windows 7 onto the flash drive under a 32-bit Windows 7 environment.
I tried creating a virtual machine in VMWare and I had the same message saying:
"A required CD/DVD drive device driver is missing. If you have a driver floppy disk, CD, DVD, or USB flash drive, please insert it now."

I can get into both my W7 and Vista installs. I ran the Upgrade adviser under W7 and it had no errors.
Tonight, I will try downloading all of those drivers and see if that helps.
What do I do when the drivers come in .exe files (like I will get from nvidia) since when I am browsing for files, the installation only seems to only be looking for .inf ones.

If that process doesn't work for a different executable then sometimes you can rename the .exe to a .zip and pull the files out. You should be able to use one of these processes to get any driver you need.
I tried running the Upgrade Advisor in Vista but nothing of importance failed. Just that W7 doesnt have parental controlls or windows mail, and that I could not do a straight upgrade to W7 without installing SP1 or 2.
I transfered all the Vista 64-bit drivers over to my flash drive, the ones for ATK, Audio, Other, Raid, and graphics. I think the only one that had a driver to select and try to install was either ATK or Audio, but after it was selected it still said no new hardware devices were found.
Also the nvidia drivers gave a message saying; "The Nvidia GeForce 8800 GTS 512 device driver could not be installed. Contact your vendor for an updated driver."
I tried using my 2nd Dvd drive as the master (only) instead, but this made no difference.
Franzli504, what do you mean by "Try using a Vista/XP driver and formatting everything.
Then use the Windows 7 to install." Could you please explain more?
Some more things to try then;
1) In the BIOS disable the network card, and anything else that you can. If you using SATA drives then also make sure that they're set to AHCI, not ATA (or IDE), in the BIOS.
2) Take out your video card and install a different, older video card. Then retry the install.
3) Try installing on your other HD, and disconnect the other HD.
4) Redownload Windows 7 and reinstall

Thanks guys, I finally got it working!
I tried installing it on my laptop as well, and that gave me the same error message which made me skeptical.
So I downloaded it again from the Microsoft website, before even bothering making a dvd, I tried installing to a virtual machine and this time it did not give me the error.
I made a bootable usb drive and copied all the files over and was successfully able to install it on my PC.
So it seems like the original image had been corrupted somehow, but downloading a new one fixed it.

Just wanted to post my personal experience on this error message...
Original System was: Vista Home Premium 64-bit (HP Pavilion dv7 / Intel Core 2 Duo CPU / T5800 @ 2.00 GHz / 4.00 GB RAM)
Clean Installation of: Windows 7 Professional RTM 64-bit (via MSDN/TechNet subscription)
Manually backed up all my important data on an external USB drive.
Downloaded the ISO and verified the SHA1 hash matched.
Burned a copy and then proceed with the install...
Install started but then came up with the "A required cd/dvd drive device driver is missing" error.
The previous system was using the built-in Microsoft driver so now what....?
Burned a second copy at slowest speed (4x) and tried again with the same resulting error.
Burned a third copy on a DIFFERENT COMPUTER at slowest speed (4x) running Win XP.
Lo and behold...the install ran much faster and completed with flying colors!
(I formatted the drive as part of the install process.)

I'm loving Windows 7! I've only had one crash total so far...it was in Windows Explorer very early on when I hit the Back button. The OS nicely detected all my devices and led me thru the process of updating them.

Can you get back to your Vista install? If so run the upgrade advisor from Vista. That might tell you which driver you need to upgrade. http://www.microsoft.com/d
If not then...
The Nvidia CK804 ADMA Controller is your RAID driver, but I don't think that's the problem driver. Either way download all your 64bit motherboard drivers from here.

Then pick from the drop down lists, Motherboard, Socket939, Asus A8n Sli Deluxe motherboard. Then choose your OS as Vista 64bit.
Get your 64bit video card driver from here.

Extract all those drivers then burn them do a CD. Then restart your OS install, and try all the drivers. When prompted.
