Question

HP Color Laserjet CM2320 Drivers for Windows 7?

Asked by: Kurvenal

I am considering installing the latest Windows 7 RC.  One thing
that would make me wait though is if I cannot use my printer,
an HP Color Laserjet CM2320.  Postings in May on the HP User
Forum indicated that there was no driver available, but that there
might be a workaround.  Any thoughts on this?

Hi, you should download the vista sp2 drivers for your printer, then execute the install program in the compatibility mode. To achieve that, just do a right click over the setup.exe, select "properties", click on the "compatibility" tab, and activate the mode for windows vista sp2. It must be works just fine.

Hope this help!

Below link is to the available drivers for that model HP:
http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport/TechSupport/DriverDownload.jsp?lang=en&cc=us&prodNameId=3597339&taskId=135&prodTypeId=18972&prodSeriesId=3597338&lang=en&cc=us&submit=Go%20??

HP has not approved/published any Windows 7 drivers for this printer.  I don't know whether they plan to, or not.  Based on their history of not releasing Vista compatible drivers for anything over a year or so old - I tend to lean towards them not releasing Win 7 drivers, thereby attempting to force you into buying a new printer.  This is what they did with Vista - and I don't expect them to change.

According to some more recent updates on HP's forum regarding this model and Win 7, it may print using compatibility mode as described by angelsergio_e, but the fax and scan via network are not functional.
http://forums11.itrc.hp.com/service/forums/bizsupport/questionanswer.do?threadId=1339670&prodTypeId=18972&prodSeriesId=3597338

So, in answer to your question - the workaround should allow you to print.  If that is all you need, then you should be okay with the upgrade to Win 7.  However, if you need fax and scan over network capability - there is no workaround to allow those functions, so Win 7 would not be recommended.

HP Support has given me a newer version of the CM2320
software that is an improvement in Windows 7, although it does
not offer the full functionality that is obtainable in Vista.  I downloaded
it from here:  ftp://raptor3@hprc.external.hp.com/.  While network
scanning is supported, it is not possible to scan from the printer
front panel nor is HP Solution Center available.

I'm also looking for the CM2320 windows 7 driver.  HP still doesn't have it posted on their website.  That link you provided requires a username and password.  Can you share?

Was never given a user name and password, so cannot provide that.  I am travelling for the next week, but suggest that you contact HP Support and ask them for the latest version of the software.  If for some reason they do not give it to you, then I will be able to send you a link to download the file when I am back.

Actually, I just went ahead and installed the vista 64 bit driver and it worked like a charm.  The crazy thing is the vista software never installed properly in vista unless I booted the pc with windows only services using msconfg.  But it installed perfect in win 7. go figure.
