The new OS is great but it is a little difficult to find some things, or rather, I can find them, but re-finding them is the problem.
For example: There are settings that have to do with what happens when I close the lid on my laptop. I've found them and the pathing statement is as follows:
Control Panel\Hardware and Sound\Power Options\System Settings
It would be nice if I could leave myself some sort of link or pointer to this page. I simply can't remember that easily all the steps. Is there a way to tie this page to a shortcut button or link?
or is there some other easy way to make it easy to re-find something like this?

You can also go to (for instance) Power Settings in Control Panel:
Control Panel\System and Security
Right click on the Power Setting icon and select "create a shortcut".
That will put a shortcut on your Desktop which you can then copy or move to wherever you want it. Having said that, I find that using the method in my first post is the quickest way of finding utilities, programs, files, folders - just about anything!
Both of your suggestions are good ones. I prefer the second because the first sort of forces me to remember the syntax for what I want, which for me isn't always easy.
I created a folder on my desktop called Ctrl-Pnl. See attached. In it I placed the various links you suggested. This will help me greatly in the future to find what I'm looking for easily.

Just press the Windows key or Click on the "Orb" and start typing what you're looking for.
In this case, if you start typing "pow" you'll see Power Options in the list which pops up.
