I see from the Epson site that a 32bit Win 7 driver is available for Epson Perfection 3200 PHOTO, but no 64bit listed

Browse All TopicsMy PC is an HP e9150t quad core machine using an Intel i7 CPU (920@2.67 GHz). I have 8 GB of RAM and am running Windows Vista Home Premium-64-Bit, Service Pack 2. After purchasing this computer in July, I found out that my scanner (Epson Perfection 3200 Photo Scanner) would not work with it due to no Vista drivers and my very old HP printer (LaserJet IIIp) will not work with it because of some other reason with Vista.
I realize the printer is very old, but since it still works I hated to throw it away, so I didn't because HP said that when Windows 7 comes out there was a possibility it would work once I upgraded to that operating system.
The free upgrade I get is to the lowest version of Windows 7; Home Premium. How can I find out if my scanner and/or printer will work with either the Home Premium version or one of the upgraded versions that will allow certain XP programs to run?

KCTS:
Thanks a bunch. That's great news. As far as the Epson Perfection 3200 PHOTO, it was the same situation with Vista. Since I had the scanner hooked up to an XP system, is it a safe assumption that if I upgrade to the Windows 7 Professional version, the scanner would work fine when running Windows 7 and the XP mode?
It's cheaper for me to do that than buy another scanner.
No, it is DEFINITELY NOT safe to assume that it will work under Windows 7. It's safer to assume that it won't. That scanner is a USB/FireWire scanner. It's POSSIBLE the USB connection will translate to the XP Mode virtual machine - but it is NOT guaranteed. (Virtual PC in Windows 7/XP Mode has been enhanced and DOES support USB to SOME extent - maybe even more than I'm giving credit - but it's the first version of Virtual PC to support USB in ANY form, so there is a distinct possibility that it will not work.
You can start with Windows 7 upgrade advisor from http://www.microsoft.com/d
It tells you Windows 7 knows your devices&apps or not.
If not - the only direction is the hardware manufacturer. If Windows 7 doesn't support your scanner - you should ask Epson. If they don't support this scanner on Windows 7 - you are out of luck and should not buy new system...
